Default Recs for first toy car for 11-month old DS

DS just started sliding objects (remote, books, etc) around the room. I think it's time we give him a toy car! Does anyone have recommendations? I prefer wooden toys.

I've looked at the M&D first vehicle set, stacking emergency vehicles, and stacking construction vehicles. All the Educo vehicles, like the white dump truck, look cute too. The IKEA toy cars aren't completely made out of wood, but they seem fun and a cheaper alternative.

    Thank you for your help!

My baby girl got this amazing car yesterday for her birthday!

ETA: Sorry it's late and I'm tired and I missed that you prefer wood! So sorry about that. I like wood a lot too, but do like this all natural rubber car. Maybe it's worth a look?

Happy Birthday to your DD! I am open to rubber (DS still likes to chew on Sophie whenever he cuts new teeth) and all the Rubbabu vehicles look really cute! How do you feel about the wheels? Do they seem pretty secure? I'd be worried about them falling out and becoming choking hazards. That's my concern about the M&D stacking vehicles. Thank you for the rec!

My DS got the M&D first vehicle set for his birthday last week and he really likes the vehicles, they are well made and definitely sturdy enough to withstand young toddler play...or should I say bashing and chewing!

I would avoid the stacking ones at this age. Your baby is more likely to take it apart then leave it together and then you have pieces all over the place. Also M&D products tend to chip paint.

If you like wood I would consider:

Or there are tons of beautiful options on etsy

ETA for non wood we really like viking chubbies

"Someday, I am going to go to bed without toys on the floor and sippys in my sink. Things will stay where I put them and I can have nice, fragile items on display. But when I do, I will look around with a wistfullness in my heart and miss the days where vibrant imaginations ran wild and there was evidence of life happening around me all the time!"

Another vote for skipping M&D. The hard corners make them a dangerous projectile. We never got around to getting the Rubbaboo, but I wish we would have. DS goes crazy for these whenever we see them. I like the big ones, the wheels would be less of a hazard too.

The toys on etsy are beautiful! I'll have to look more closely on my laptop tonight.

Another vote for Rubbabu! Perhaps I'll buy one rubber and one wooden car. DS will be pleased.

    Thanks ladies!

DS's first toy vehicles were these wooden ones:

good advice so far. I also agree that the viking chubbies are great but they are plastic and you want wood. Just an FYI the Ikea cars you linked are made to be taken apart and put back together so they would not be a good choice for a 1 year old.

DS got this bucket of the Viking Chubbies for his first birthday and it has been one of the most played with items in the house. The cars are well constructed and roll well.
