A very good friend is finishing hiking in the Sierras and we're thinking of flying out to hike some of the trails and sight see for Columbus Day weekend. But I'm so lost as to where to stay... north or south doesn't really matter, I think north would be quieter, but many hotels and places to stay have some bad reviews.
Can anyone recommend a place to stay? No kids, DD would be staying back east, two couples, not too expensive but we don't have to go for the cheapest option. TIA

Northstar at Tahoe has a range of accommodations from rental of ski condos to 4 star Ritz Carlton rooms. My ILs have a ski condo there so we go up there every year,
