Default I went to Costco today and...

I had no idea what to buy! A new store opened in my area and it's huge. I even did a search on the forums last night to see what items you guys like to buy. I left there today with only paper towels. Go figure. I found myself trying to calculate out the price of things to see if they're even worth it. I think I get better deals at Wegmans and I don't have to buy 400lbs of something, right?? They did have some great non-food things, like the Ugg knock-offs but then I decided that I really didn't NEED a pair. I did almost buy the humongous teddy bear for $30 though. Hahaha.

So tell me what I should get next time because I feel like I should've been walking out with more than just a big pack of paper towels!

I don't know how old your kids are, but I always buy milk there. And eggs. In fact, for some reason, my hubby bought 15dozen eggs last time we were there. He is a little crazy.

    Other things:
    wipes
    beans in cans
    crushed tomatoes
    pizza!
    toilet paper and paper towels
    cat food/litter
    frozen chicken
    toothbrushes/toothpaste
    laundry detergent
    large quantities of beer

    And a lot more.

If you have a Wegman's you might not need Costco.

    Staples we buy there:
    Humanely-raised organic beef and chicken
    Fruit & fresh veggies
    Paper towels & TP
    Wipes
    Naked juice
    Wine

    Yum factor:
That huge pumpkin pie that is like $6
    Fresh bagels and muffins
The yogurt in a tube when it's DD's turn to bring a snack to preschool
whatever the sample people convince me to buy
    DD - 8
    DS - 5

We were at Costco the other day and DH actually put that giant teddy bear into our cart. "Don't even think about it" I said. Several years ago he bought a pair of larger-than-life stuffed dogs at Costco. The darned things take up so much space.

I think I live there, lol. But my other shopping choices are walmart, food lion and kroger so YMMV.

    frequently:
    -milk
    -eggs
    -sausage patties (already cooked)
    -heavy cream
    -butter
    -lettuce
    -roma tomatoes
-kids books (usually great deals-I've spent way to much money there recently!)
-toys (very much seasonal though-run from Oct to Jan and then there are no toys!)
    -wrapping paper
    -individually quick frozen chicken breasts
    -rotisserie chicken

    Occasionally:
    -ravioli
    -laundry detergent
    -plastic silverware
    -towels
    -frozen fruit/veggies
    -ice cream bars
    -toothpaste
-back in the day diapers and wipes. Just bought more wipes for DS' kindergarten class-they don't have a sink so go through a ton of wipes after craft projects!
    -chlorox wipes
    -prescriptions
-Jamaican patties/quesadillas etc for quick lunches
-recently had the french onion soup as a sample DELISH!
-oh and my yearly huge chocolate cake for my birthday...
    -kid vitamins
-ground beef/other meat-I just repackage into manageable servings. With the ground beef I brown it all and break it down into 1 lb packages for quick meals.

We love Costco...so many things we never knew we "needed."

    Great for:

    Books / Magazines
    Batteries
    Frozen Lasagne
    Yogurt
    Bottled Water
Rotisserie Chicken (which we also use to put in other recipes like salads, tacos, stir fries, etc.)
    Snapple
    Baby Carrots
Strawberries, Bananas, Blackberries, Cantelope (but not lately), Pineapple - we either eat it straight, mix it into salads or use it to make smoothies
    Hummus
    Pita Chips

Funny you should mention the 53" teddy bear. I am due with twins in three weeks and desperately wanted one for our nursery because my 2-year old nephew has one (not from Costco) in his room and loves to grab a picture book, cuddle up against his bear and fall asleep. So, naturally I was elated when I found ours!

I liked it so much, in fact, that I bought a second one about a month later for my friends who adopted a newborn. They love theirs too!

I just enjoy going to see all the Costco-girls in their skin tight blue jeans!
