    Default ISO Down Bunting

As I prepare to face my first midwestern winter since I was 4... anyone have any recommendations for warm down for my baby? She is 5 months old, wears 6-9 now and is growing out of that size, and I'd prefer to avoid pink.

    TIA

I didn't have much time to look, but know that Columbia sells down buntings:

I'm posting what we used...to give a couple of additional ideas:

We lived in (southern) IA when DD#1 was a baby, and used a thick fleece bunting (from LE). For stroller rides, we used a stroller bag (ours is a Mobile Mom's).

DD#2 was a baby in (northern) WI. She was off-season from her sister, so I couldn't re-use what we had, plus I wanted more than "just" fleece. I had trouble finding a reasonably priced down bunting in her size, and ended up borrowing a squall-type bunting (nylon outside, fleece inside) from a neighbor. I loved that thing! "Ours" was from Rugged Bear, but here's a similar one from Columbia:

For her second winter, we used a Journey's End snowsuit from Hanna Andersson. They're wonderful for older kids, and IMO would be perfect for younger ones, too,
if only the small sizes had covered hands and feet!

LL Bean has a super cute one! Kind of pricey, but I know how long those Midwestern winters are, so it may be worth your while. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/52109...oductId=874355

We had one from Patagonia for DD's first winter. We skied and snowshoed with her and she was always warm. Plus it ran a little big for layering and was made really well.

We had the LLBean fleece bunting last year in two sizes and have bought it again this year. It is plenty warm - it isn't lined but is some special kind of fleece that is extra warm. It runs big - DS wore the 0-3 size last year until he was about 6 months. He is now in the 6-12. Bonus is that it is super cute in photos. Here is DS last week:

I love that photo! We have the exact same LLBean fleece and I can't wait to use it for Ds3.

I have one-piece fleece snowsuits from both Land's End and LLBean and both have worked well and both run large, IMO. We use them the first 2-3 winters (NB, turn 1yo, turning 2yo) and add an REI waterproof snowsuit in winter 3.

I'm not sure what you're planning to do re: outdoor activities, but this will be our third winter baby in the northern Midwest and I haven't needed anything other than a fleece for ours kids so far. But, we don't take the youngest out for long periods of time in a way that we couldn't add a layer or blankets. A fleece one-piece snow suit is enough in the car seat, gets an extra blanket in the stroller, and is plenty warm in a baby carrier and we take it off if we're wearing the baby under our coat in a sling.

ETA: I forgot my link the first time. I don't love the patterns but I saw these the other day:

Sooooo cute! So they are running pretty big? Wonder if my tall almost 3 yo could fit in the 12-18m size. Wishful thinking maybe?
