Default Socks for a Three Year Old

We are on a perpetual search to find perfect and inexpensive socks for my boys. I have tried Gymbo, Gap, ON, TCP and all seem to get holes. Indeed, they seems to only last a couple of months. Short of getting smartwool, what am I missing?

Have you tried Hannas? We've never had any holes, just insane shrinkage with ON and gymbo....but Hannas seem thicker and tougher.

I just found them with my 5-year-old, but they might be small enough for a 3-year-old as well. I really like the Champion (C9?) crew socks that come in a multipack at Target.

I like these, they're pretty thick. And maybe size up, b/c I found when the socks get too small, they start getting toe holes.

We bought thick ones at target (hanes or champion - not sure) and ds1 refuses to wear them! They are so thick that they bunch up inside his shoe and he can't stand that. He loves the more fitted ones from Carters and we hand them down to ds2.

I bought DD a big package of plain white crew socks from Walmart over a year ago. She wears them with her sneakers. (I buy the foldover kind from TCP for her other shoes). I don't remember the brand- its one of Walmart's brand names- but they are still in great condition after a lot of use.

We haven't had any problems with the Old Navy triple roll socks getting holes. I just bought 10 for $10 minus a 30% off coupon to replace the last round of Carter's socks she had outgrown.

Do you have trouble with some bands digging into their ankles? I got a bunch of polarn o pyret socks and they all cut into DD's legs. The Gap makes nice fold over ones...
