The DirecTV boxes have parental software on them, you'll just need to set it up. After you do things over whatever rating you set will just say "blocked title" and require a passcode to view.
Even if you've recorded something on Starz or whatever, that shows a PG movie followed by say PG-14 and you have that extra time period where the original show is over and the next one started already, it won't let you continue viewing the recording until you've entered the passcode.

What?? Really?
I just checked my guide and don't see anything near the kids channel lineup.... maybe I'm blind.....

We have fios and I find these while doing a search by title for on demand kids shows. Have to find a way around this when they start reading!!!

Same here with Charter. We called them to complain that the HD channels start at 782 and then the porn channels start at 802 - that's like 2 page flips in the guide, and 1st and 2nd grade DC can read!
They were very defensive, that 2 page flips was plenty far away, etc. etc...
niiice. I miss FIOS.

FWIW, our customer service didn't know how to turn the titles to just say "Adult Programming". I had to figure it out on my own. It is buried in the Parental Lock option.
Here's a google I found - (note, I don't have Charter, but my spare remote IS a Charter remote I bought off eBay b/c the model #s matched, so it might be helpful.....)
On your remote, press Menu. From the Menu screen, select the icon that looks like a house. From the main menu, you well see a number of options, select "Parental Controls". Once here, you can hide titles and block programming according to channel, PPV status, and program rating.
