Best toy keys?

DS has this set from Target and he likes them - they're my go-to toy to give him when we have to wait somewhere and I'm desperate.

I got that set, too. Did you know they were recalled? I called and they sent out an identical looking set and told me to throw the first set away.

For both my girls, when they got interested in my keys when they were babies, I went to Lowes (or Home Depot has the same stuff) and got them their own keys by where you can have keys made. I got Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, Hello Kitty, Disney Princess ones, tie-dye ones, animal print ones, Peace ones, etc. And I got a stretchy little key chain as well that they love. They both still play with them and DD1 is almost 6 years old! Cost to play ratio has been worth it!

I thought I read somewhere that regular metal keys have some lead in them, so not to let kids play with them? Maybe it's just a trace amount, but thought I'd mention it just in case...

Thank you so much for pointing this out! I had not seen the recall notice. I just called them and they are sending me a new set.

Yes, they were recalled, but B. Toys and Battat fixed the issue.

I actually found out about the recall because I tried to buy them for DD and the register wouldn't let the cashier ring up the toy.

However, I've since bought her a set and I have to say that the keys themselves are thicker than the earlier version ... and she loves to play with them. They're actually our go-to toy for DH's car at the moment!
