the heat (mama) seeking missile, as i refer to newborns.
i tried the co-sleeper a few nights when we visited my sisters, but my ds was much happier in bed with us. he will nap for dh during the day in the PNP.
op, you might also consider a side cared crib next you your bed...its easy to do, will give baby more space and will prevent you from needing a bassinet and a crib, if you plan to move to a crib eventually anyways. just a thought
and remember, bed sharing if safe if you avoid the risk factors: smoking, intoxication, sedating medications, sofa/recliner, loose blankets and sheets, obesity in mother, sleeping with toddlers or unrelated adults. baby should be by mom and either a wall, with mattress firmly against wall or a bedrail. firm mattress, tight fitting sheet, not overly hot in the room.
