Default 14 mo old pulling out outlet covers!

I guess the Ikea ones weren't th best choice. Does anyone have a recommendation because it is scary seeing your baby holding the cover and sitting in front of the exposed outlet?

I have several types of outlet covers.

    I prefer this one:

This one is so extremely difficult to remove/defeat, that even I don't remove this cover:

We just replaced our outlets with the tamper resistant ones. It takes a little bit of work and was a little more expensive than the IKEA covers we started with, but there's no way DS will put another outlet cover in his mouth. It cost about $1 an outlet.

I can't remember where I read about these, but the sliding outlet covers are apparently highly recommended because kids can't pry them out like the ones you just pop into the outlets.

I bought them off ebay in bulk so I didn't pay $4/each. Still, I probably spent about $40 to get enough to cover every outlet that's not behind furniture or too high for a toddler to reach. Hoping to recoup some of the investment when I remove them and re-sell them!

We have these and DD pretty much ignores them because they blend in the with faceplate:

They're not rated well at BRU, but they seem tow ork fine for us, again DD ignores them.

Now these will keep your little one out, because they are so child proof that they are also adult proof! I hurt my fingers trying to remove them, and have since thrown out all that I managed to get off. I only left them in outlets that we rarely use, mainly because I don't feel like killing my fingers to get them off (I actually considered taking a knife to pry them out, except for that whole electrocution thing...)

Except now my Mac's 3-prong plug won't go in. D'oh! Everything else works fine, though.

Yeah, DS3 figured them out as well (DS1 and DS2 never even tried to mess with them). I have a few that are tougher to get out (and I think that they are a pita), but after a few times and lots of discouragement, DS3 got bored with it and didn't mess with the covers anymore.
