Not surprisingly DS1 (almost 9) is thrilled with his iPod Touch. The few times he put it down was to play his Wii Mario Bros 25th Anniversary set...
I stuck mostly to his very resonable list of five things plus some things he needed and some books and he seems happy as can be, no real misses. He was suprised and happy to get his SpyNet watch, but the kids get so much for xmas from different people that they know some things get put into their closet unopened and saved for a rainy day so this made that pile.

    For DD7:

    Our big hit was:

This Victorius Microphone http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...uctId=11904700 stand that she can attach her IPOD to. She has been singing all day to her music.

I did not pay $99 dollars for that!!! I paid $20 which I got my monies worth in her playing with it. But, it is just a piece of plastic that I probably, if I took a good look at it when I bought it, would only pay $10 for it. And this wasn't even a gift she asked for.

    Our big miss:

Nintendo 3DS...and she doesn't have a Nintendo. We have a Wii but the kids hardly play with it.

So far ds, age 8, has been so busy riding his new bike (24 inch Trex with gears and TWO handbrakes) that he hasn't had much time to do anything else. He has been playing with his domino race with his few spare moments.

The magazine subscriptions (Highlights and Sports Illustrated Kids) seem to be misses at this point, but maybe he will be more interested after the hubbub of the holidays dies down.

ETA. The Christmas pjs were also a complete MISS.

    7 year old DS:

    HITS
    Freight Train http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details

Basketball hoop - the whole family played with this one yesterday
Legos - 1600 piece set from WalMart super cheap
    RC T-Rex
    Dinosaur Mountain
    Digital Camera
Nutcrackers - from the grocery store! He loves these things

    MISSES
Simon Flash - my sisters and I loved the original version of this game when we were little. We can't get this one to even work! So frustrating - it's going back!

    TO BE DETERMINED
Bike - We're hoping the new wheels are motivation for him to want to learn to ride a two wheeler. He's been completely uninterested up to this point.

Tell me about the RC TRex and dinosaur mountain

But when I do, I will look around with a wistfullness in my heart and miss the days where vibrant imaginations ran wild and there was evidence of life happening around me all the time!"
