DS1's bday is coming up and he asked for a science kit.
He liked this one in a catalog-

but I wonder if it's too young?
Any recommendations?

"Someday, I am going to go to bed without toys on the floor and sippys in my sink. Things will stay where I put them and I can have nice, fragile items on display. But when I do, I will look around with a wistfullness in my heart and miss the days where vibrant imaginations ran wild and there was evidence of life happening around me all the time!"
I've had good experiences with many of the Thames and Kosmos sets.
Does he have snap circuits? It may not be exactly what he's looking for but they are great for 7yos interested in science.
Mama to DS-2004
DD-2006
and a new addition-ds born march 2010
I'd request a catalog from Edmund Scientific

They've been around for a really long time. I remember my father ordering his science supplies from them when I was a child.
