    Default 207 items shed

In three days...all craigslist, free cycle and friends. Did not even have to drive to goodwill. Mostly books, many random extraneous doodads.

House was clean before but now feels so much more clean and airy.

Tackling the garage tomorrow and will take a few days. If you don't hear back from me in a week, call 911 and have them send a search and rescue team.

Hillview, I used the old "does this get used, does it make life better?" thing. In the end, things like high heels I wore 2x and my husband's sterile procedure textbook just don't make life better. Nor do 10 extra strings of Christmas lights or leftover birthday decorations.

I expect the garage holds at least 2x as much stuff to shed. Out of a small house, it is hard to see where we had all that stuff ferreted away. The house was clean before but there was so much more stuff around.

I am inspired. I always felt like I am great about purging - and then we moved and I saw the piles of boxes. How did we still have all that STUFF? Anyway, congrats and I'm off to start mine!

P.S. We have two extra birthday tablecloths sitting out right now. They are bright pink. DH bought too many for DD's party and said they weren't worth enough to take back to the store (maybe $3 total). So here they sit. I was saving them for another use but it would be nice to just have them gone!

Oh, i'm so glad I clicked on this thread! I needed this today. My clearing out has kind of stalled, but I was doing really well before Christmas. Ok, getting back on track this morning!

So update: we are at about 410 items gone (estimated number of books in boxes of books) plus 4 boxes of papers and stuff to the shredder and I cleaned the freezer and organized everything in the garage. J put up the bike rack and finally parsed out his boxes from the garage. Is there a cartwheels smilie?
