    Default Girls weekend in Vegas

Hit me with your ideas, please! We have the hotel picked and now we need to fill in our activities. We have 0 desire to gamble. We like good food but probably would only be willing to drop serious money once, everything else would need to be more modest. Any must sees? We have most of the day Friday, all day Sat. and depart at 5pm Sunday.

    Thanks, all!!!

A cirque de soleil show would be on my must do list. I have to one and it was amazing.

If it's not too hot, there is some nice hiking nearby.

Ha! My friends asked what I wanted to do on a trip and I said hike all day, live it up at night (we'll have burned off enough calories to really do it up!). Thanks!!

What are you interested in? Clubbing/dancing? Spa? Just sightseeing?

My favorite thing to do in Vegas is just walk around and check out all the different hotels. I think the Wynn and Bellagio are really beautiful. The Bellagio has this magnificent courtyard display of botanicals (maybe that is not a word, since it was just underlined in red) and decorations that is a tourist attraction in itself. I like going to downtown Vegas to get that true, old school Vegas experience (I do prefer to gamble down there, but know that is not part of your itinerary). You can also buy discounted show tickets on the main drag down there, but don't think they have any Cirque du Soleil.

As for buffets, the one at Mandalay is nice but expensive. Paris is also pretty good. Many of your big city's well known restaurants also have a outpost in Vegas. I'd skip Tao, way overrated IMO.

You are going THIS Friday? If so it will likely be cold. Make sure you bring some warm clothing if you want to do outdoor hiking and such. If it's summer time then prepare to cook! My MIL lives in Henderson and we always joke, you either freeze or fry in Las Vegas.

I agree with hitting the hotels ... lions at MGM, Volcano at Mirage, Bellagio, the Venetian ... you can walk the forum shops at Caesars Palace. If you want some thrills maybe take a ride on the roller coaster at NY, NY. OR you could do the Ziplining down at Fremont Street.http://fremontstreetflightline.com/

The Paris Buffet is good. If you want a tasty buffet with beer and wine included, head off the strip to the M hotel. The food is good and their gelato is yummy!!! http://www.themresort.com/studiob/

I agree with the others... if you can swing it a Cirque du Soleil show would be great. If you are into Magic then the Criss Angel show might be appealing http://www.luxor.com/entertainment/e...t_believe.aspx

One thing I can tell you is that food on the strip is very expensive(my SIL and BIL ended up paying over $75 for lunch one day .... and the food wasn't even that good/special (a salad, a sandwich and a plate of buffalo wings). In Henderson at the Green valley Ranch resort they have old vegas pricing on their buffet etc ... as in $9 for breakfast (less if you become a member and get a card(its free)) ... and the food selection was better than the breakfast buffet we went to at the Mandalay Bay hotel. http://greenvalleyranchresort.com/di...ast-buffet.php

If you are going in the warmer weather then I would plan to spend a lot of time at the pool beating the heat... then do your moving around when the sun goes down!

No, not this Friday, March. I keep meaning to look up average March temps..

Thanks for the ideas so far!! I am envisioning sight seeing the hotels, eating good food and maybe a show (if we can get tickets). Our hotel has a spa, which we may kill some time at. I would love to go dancing but it can be hard to find a place for 30yo; not 21yos, not 50yos. Not looking for meat markets, just somewhere to dance.

Get tickets to see La Reve at the Wynn. It seriously blew my mind. It is similar to Cirque, but half of it is underwater. There is a pool at the bottom, and there are platforms that rise out of it and then dissapear so the performers dive down into it. The theatre is amazing, it's in a big circle and you really can't get a bad seat (well, actually I would suggest sitting higher up).

The Wynn site was acting wonky, so I didn't link, but I found a short video so you can get an idea. It was outstanding!

We were there recently, DH wanted to see Hoover Dam (I thought it was a snoozefest, but DH wanted to see it). You could do that if that interests you, or do a day trip to see the Grand Canyon if you have never seen it.

We didn't gamble much, either. I like to walk around, see the different hotels. If you've never seen Ceasar's Palace, it's a must see! I am annoyed I didn't walk into the Cosmopolitan... I've been wanting to check it out.

Oh, and hop on the Deuce Bus (actually, if your goal is to do alot of walking around the Vegas.. get a day pass). You can take the Deuce all the way down to Freemont Street (the Old Vegas - where you can see the light show and lots of interesting people watching)

ETA: I just realized you guys are not there for very long... I wouldn't see Grand Canyon then, it will eat up your entire day. When I went for a short girls' weekend a couple of years ago, we made sure to see one good show, do lots of walking around during the day/hang out at the pool.... and went dancing at night.

There are nice hiking trails near Red Rocks, which is about 20 minutes off the strip. Our friends have a house in that area and it is really nice area, not like the strip at all. The Red Rocks Hotel is in that area too. There is also a larger resort like casino in the same area, but I am forgetting the name. One thing is that driving on the strip can be insane (taxi drivers are scary there!) but at least the parking is free.

For walking around inside a casino I like Paris because the ceilings are high. We ate at the restaurant there for brunch and it is really good. The buffet at Bellagio is suppose to excellent too.

As far as Cirque du Soliel there are a variety of shows for all people so you might want to make sure you all want to go to the same show. There are urban legends of old folks going to see O, which is the sex related and half naked one.

rent a car & go to the skybridge at the grand canyon.

eat at hugo's cellar - http://www.frommers.com/destinations...as/D32326.html it was really good!

take the monorail to visit all the hotels on the strip.

go to boot barn & buy some cowgirl boots.

I second all the recommendations above. I would also rent a car. Cabs get expensive and car rentals are so cheap. The last time we went it was $20 a day or less. I would check out trip advisor and put up a post for good nightlife for thirty somethings.
