There are so many out there.

Baking soda and vinegar. Let it sit for about a half hour then pour boiling water down. That usually does the trick! There have been a few times i have had to repeat

If not, I go with the foaming drano.

We use vinegar and baking soda usually.

Recently our bathtub became very backed up and DH bought an enyzme-based drain cleaner. He refuses to use Drano - dangerous for pipes, dangerous for people. But the enzyme stuff didn't do the trick and we ended up plunging. It worked perfectly after that.

No way will I use Drano or equivalent. A drain snake can work too.

We watched something on a 60 Minutes' type show too about Drano coming back up and out and really injuring people...it was scary.

We use Drano. Occasionally our master shower gets slow. So Dh has taken to using it once every couple of months I think? I can't remember which kind it is, but you use it at least an hour after you've used the drain. Then you let it sit overnight. So I don't think it's as dangerous.

We like the snake. It really gets the crud out of there.

We use a snake or a plunger. I have read too many bad things about drain cleaners and pipes, and them spraying back up. I am too paranoid.

I've tried Drano several times unsuccessfully. Now I just cut to the chase and whip out the drain snake.

Plunger or the Zip it - the zip it works really, really well on bathroom sinks here! It was like $3 at the hardware store. http://zipitclean.com/

It's called Drain Maid by BioSmart I think. You have to buy it from an actual plumber, but it's worth it. It works wonders and it's completely safe for kids and pets. If someone here ever finds a B&M or estore that sells it, I'd love to know!
