    Default Alternative to Saltines?

I'm trying to cut back on white flour, but I cannot seem to part with my saltines added to my soup for lunch most days. There are wheat saltines, but they are not whole wheat, so I don't think that really adds any benefit? I've tried crackers that are more grainy, but it seems to alter the flavor of my soup too much. FWIW, I think I really just like the salt and crunch. Any suggestions for a healthier replacement?

Why don't you make some bread, chop it into chunks and toast it into croutons.

If the saltines are your only indulgence, then I say keep indulging. Unless you have a medical reason for needing to cut back, you probably are better off just having the saltines and being satisfied than trying to find something else and feeling dissatisfied.

Whole wheat croutons? You can even buy them in the store.
