    Default Online Computer Rehab Program

    Hi all,

I'm doing a class on Augmentative and Alternative Communication, and I need to critique a commercial computer rehabilitative program. The program does not have to be directly linked with Communication Disorders. Any computer program that TEACHES something will do. I would like something with communication as that is my major.

Does anyone know of an online tutorial that teaches something in the field of communication?

    Thanks so much.

    Nicci

Are you looking for something you can access online, rather than ordering a CD ROM? I think most products will be something you need to order rather than something you can access online. If time/cost is an issue with ordering a CD, you can check if there are any special ed libraries in your area. I've gotten Earobics from our county's SE library and I know they have several other programs.

Super Duper Publications has a series of "HearBuilder" Programs. These are CD ROMS, but they have online demos available for each one:

Pick one and then go to "Try it out" to get an interactive sample of the games. I don't know if the demos will have enough material for you to do a full critique, it depends on the requirements of your assignment.

Another option is to look at apps, which are becoming very popular.

Super Duper Pubs has apps for both iPhone/iPad and Android available. Many of them are illustrated/interactive versions of their Fun Decks:

Mobile Education Store makes wonderful ;anguge/communication learning apps for the iPhone/iPad. We have the iPad versions of most of them and they have helped DS a lot:

We have several other language/communication apps too, but the one from Mobile Education are our favorites.

    I hope that helps!

    Thanks Gena and Victoria.
I'll check in with the professor for more information. He said to evaluate a program that teaches something, and he mentioned we should be able to find 'free' programs. Maybe he means to download a trial version?? What I've been finding are CDs with high cost.

You've given me a great place to start to look for something. I like all the iPad apps and could see purchasing one for $10 and evaluating it. I'll also check the library at campus - I'm pretty sure they'll have something too.

This board is such a great resource on a whole number of topics!
