Default Is this sunshade a safety hazard?

I bought one at target and those plastic corner pieces are LARGE! I'm assuming this isn't safe because the plastic pieces can become projectiles in an accident, correct?

But how hard and heavy are they? I wouldn't be too worried about it, given the speed and trajectory they'd need to take in order to hit anyone's head or body. Big old roller shades have a lot of mass to them, they really are a hazard.
