OK so I caved and bought the R2 non-leather boots. I spend a good chunk of time at Nordstrom trying on all sorts of mid-calf boots and these really looked the best, and at only $49 I determined it was worth it. These are a lot like the "Laguna" that joules posted a link to. I guess since they're "chunkier" and slouchy, they really help negate the bow-leggedness. Plus, they are a slightly higher shaft than other mid-calf or low boots and seem to hit just at the right spot on me. Hope they hold up well enough My first pair of boots EVER!

I've posted on here before about not being able to wear tall boots because my legs are bowed. I tried again today at NR and confirmed that tall boots do in fact look AWFUL on me. Since my legs are bowed, the leather bulges out at all the wrong places and the boots actually seem to draw attention to it.
However, I tried on a pair of mid-calf slouch boots just for kicks and I was surprised to see that they look SO much better - they hit just below the widest part of my calf but since they don't go up any higher, they are less affected by the bowing. These are the ones I tried:
And I really loved the look (I was wearing my Costco CK ponte pant). I really wanted to buy them, but this particular pair was not leather so I put them back.
So what's the verdict on mid-calf boots? Fashion yes or no? If they're a yes, anyone know of a good leather version? They need to be flat.
