    another option is a huge bag of craft sticks and a glue gun. youtube has lots of video examples. if your dc is old enough to use the glue gun safely, they can build some amazing runs.

    We have the Quadrilla Twist and Rail, with one of the add-on kits. Pretty sure DD got it at four. She's almost 9...and while it hadn't been out for a while she got it out a couple of weeks ago and built one of the really complex runs from the pictures.

    I love (and she does too) that there are so many combinations. She's clearly learned to read plans from this. For us, it was well worth the investment.

    (Having said that, it does knock over pretty easily if you have small kids, etc.)
