Need Advice - Whole House Cleaning Plan? - UPDATE (see Posts 14, 19, 20)

Thursday progress report:

(1) Took down & laundered drapes in Master Bedroom.
(2) Cleared all flat surfaces of clutter & dusted all wood surfaces.
(3) Vacuumed carpet.
(4) Wiped down blinds & window frames.
(5) Shoveled out all trash from main bedroom.
(6) Moved DD's toys out of our bedroom to the 3rd floor. (YAY!!!)

Friday was hair appointment in the a.m. (which resulted in a cute, sexy new 'do) and then:

(1) Ironed drapes for Master ... which gave me the perfect excuse to finally "hem" them. They're crooked, but there aren't any more fraying edges hanging over my baseboards. (I can live with it.)

(2) Cleaned guest bathroom, including rug & shower curtain. I scrubbed out this weird "shelf" thing above the tub, tossed empty or gross bath/shower gels & shampoo, scrubbed the tile, scrubbed the tub, scrubbed the sink, scrubbed the exterior of the toilet, cleaned the toilet bowl, wiped down DD's potty-training accessories, mopped the floor, scrubbed out the wastebasket, cleaned the shower curtain hooks (they are metal with starfish & scallop shapes on them), threw out the old shower curtain liner and laundered the fabric shower curtain.

(3) Cleaned powder room, including rug & hand towels.

(4) Folded & put some of DD's epic laundry load away.

Today, I need to finish folding the laundry & tidying the 1st floor areas as well as grocery shop for our party tomorrow afternoon.

Honestly, this is the first year I've felt good about traveling because I won't be coming home to a cluttered mess.

Wow, this motivates me, I have 2 weeks off in jan, and I would like to clear out repurpose the office and guest bedroom, and deep clean all the closets.

Awww, shucks, thanks folks!

I managed to do all of the big stuff I wanted to do, but still spent 3 hours this morning fumbling over clutter before my guests started to arrive at 12:30pm.

But, bottom line, after the kids "trashed" the living room, I knew what stuff was mess and what stuff wasn't, so I think I did pretty well.

My party went off very well - Dad, my brothers, sister, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law all had a good time and the kids were good as gold, which is impressive because none of them napped except the baby.
