DS1 loves his Bruder garbage truck. He didn't even want to continue opening presents once he opened it. He is also loving the iPad (which he needs to share with the rest of us).

So far a miss for him is this Lego Star Wars watch http://www.potterybarnkids.com/produ...h-darth-vader/. We can't figure out how to put it together.

Ds 1 (coming up on age 9) is loving Lego mindstorms and is doing far more with them and needing less help than I expected.

Dd is newly 6 and loving her AG Kit doll. at one point she told me, "mommy, I just can't keep my eyes off kit" when her doll was across the room in a chair briefly.

    DD is 5.5

    Hits:
    Barbie dream house
Projector thing you use for tracing:
    Tinker toys
Symphony in B (I love this too!)
    Piggy bank
    Annie the movie
Cuddleuppet monkey (although this may be forgotten in a week)

    TBD:
    Lego brick set
Princess puzzle ball. I thought she would want to take it out right away, but it hasn't been opened yet
'Q ba maze' marble run thing (from my mom, it's very cool but DH had to help set it up so it may be better for older kids. That said, DH was still playing with it after the kids went to sleep...)

We've only done Santa presents so far (the rest are waiting at home). But 5 yo DD really likes her Zipbin dollhouse backpack and her Disney Princess Collection of mini-dolls. She also likes her Elf on the Shelf doll which she named Snowy, and a squirt gun. Miss: she had asked for a pink ukulele and we got one for her, but I accidentally brought the wrong one (we had a yellow one at home and I thought DH had put the pink one in the carry case, but it was the old one). We told her Santa has the pink one at home for her. I really hope we haven't blown Santa's cover!

DD1 is 5. She loves her mini play makeup (fake but looks and feels real but no slime or color at all) and her art portfolio (thanks to the BBB). No huge misses yet. She did get a few toys like lalaloopsy, my little pony, and tinkerbell doll that she asked for but she never plays with toys so we'll see if they get any play.

ETA: another hit was the Fur Real Pet bunny. She loves that thing and it really isn't too noisy/annoying.
Lalaloopsy Sketch Book http://www.amazon.com/Lalaloopsy-525...+activity+book. She loves coloring and doing the stickers to dress up the dolls. Plus it has a ton of pages...many more than most activity books.
Princess Bath Beauty Doll http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Princes...s+color+change. Now she never plays with dolls, ever, but loves that this changes color in the bath.

All the other toys were huge misses as I thought they'd be. She's just not into play. She'd rather color and craft. So Doc McStuffins (shared with DD2), Tinkerbell (shared with DD2), my little pony and lalaloopsy have gotten zero play. What a huge waste.

Mom to two amazing DDs ('07 & '09) and a fur baby.

Gluten free since Nov '11 after non-celiac gluten sensitive diagnosis. Have had great improvement or total elimination of: migraines, bloating/distention, heartburn, cystic acne, canker sores, bleeding gums, eczema on elbows, dry skin and scalp, muscle cramps, PMS, hair loss, heart palpitations, fatigue. I'm amazed.

    DS(ages 7 & 9)
Hits: Eagle Talon castle, Ogre, and Dragon! He & his brother played with this most of the day! Wasn't going to get this as we have a ton of Imaginext and I thought he was too old for it. Obviously I was wrong & the interactive sensor feature is cool!
Skylanders Giants to add to our collection
Dragon Ball & Ben 10 action figures

Misses (TBD) Surprisingly so far they haven't touched the Ninjago sets. Thinking these will go back!

    Lula is 6.
    Hits:
Tinkerbell Walkie Talkies. A total impulse buy on my part, but she is having a ball with them. Her sister hasn't figured out how to work them correctly, but Lula, DH and I have been silly all day. It made bed time fun last night too, when Lula and Dolly hopped right into their beds so they could 'tell secrets' room to room.

SpiderMan big action figure. She lurrrrrrves Spidey!

Magnatiles. DH thought they wouldn't like them, but after the hubub died down they sat and built for about an hour.

Play make up. She is so stinkin' excited to have 'real' makeup.

    Misses:
Where the Sidewalk Ends. My uncle sent it, and she doesn't know who great it is....yet!!
    Molly
Lula '06 outgrew her allergy to milk & eggs, still allergic to peanuts and cats
    Dolly '10

"Someday, I am going to go to bed without toys on the floor and sippys in my sink. Things will stay where I put them and I can have nice, fragile items on display. But when I do, I will look around with a wistfullness in my heart and miss the days where vibrant imaginations ran wild and there was evidence of life happening around me all the time!"
