Misses:

Lego set he still hasn't bothered to build. He plays with legos a ton so this is a surprise. It might be a little young for him, it's a 5+ age rated set.

Harry Potter Chess set from grandmother. He really really hates Harry Potter. With the burning passion of a 1000 suns.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - the cover doesn't appeal but he will likely enjoy it when he gets into it.

War of the Worlds- He was really, really into this radio story about it but the book seems too serious to him. He put it away for later. I should have stuck with my gut and gone with 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Which he checked out the library on his own doing anyways this last weekend.
