I am the Mystery Reader for second grade at my children's school and I am planning to read The Man Who Lost His Head.

Late for School by Steve Martin. Very cute, rhyming so good for read aloud, and there is a CD where Steve plays banjo and sings the words as lyrics to a song included with the book we have. It is very funny.

    Default Ideas

    Hits in our house...
Skippyjon Jones (must read with 'silly' voice per my kids)
Wild about Books - stems fun conversations
    Moostache (again, with an accent)

There are topics/themes that make my kids happy, so any of the following are game:
    Any Abraham Lincoln books
Local books (there is a Pennsylvania Alphabet book that they love)
    Magic Schoolbus topics
    Any baseball book

I personally love 'Have you filled your bucket today' b/c it always greats good topics to discuss with the kids.
