    Default Beach in winter

We're thinking of one of the SC or NC beaches in late Feb. The temps will be far from warm so we were wondering if anyone had suggestions on what to do other than walking on the beach. We're considering Myrtle beach, Kitty Hawk, Atlantic Beach, and maybe, VA Beach.

You might be able to rent something somewhere with an indoor pool (or stay at a hotel with one). That'd be fun. Pay attention to the destination as some places really shut down and you won't have as many restaurants or leisure spots to chose from.

What about somewhere near Charleston so you'd have other activities? (Or another city on the coast that I can't think of) .

Love Charleston but are kinda' afraid to take two toddlers to a city filled with historic sights that we want to see but they want to get out of.

we went to atlantic beach in november, and mama took ds for several days the first week of jan. we stay at the peppertree - condos, but they rent out. indoor pool, hot tub, i think a game room for older kids. there's stuff to do in the area that has been open through now, but of course double check - a nice aquarium, fort macon, several restaurants though of course not all of them. it's warmer water than many areas because of the way nc coastline juts out - you couldn't swim, but could likely wade a bit without freezing. plus the shells are better without so much competition.

We've been to VA beach in March, and stayed at a hotel with an indoor pool overlooking the beach. Very nice. The Boardwalk there is great for scooters and bike riding. There's a nice playground right on the beach as well. We got lucky and had a day or two that was warm enough to play on the beach. DS did not seem to mind the 50 degree water temp, but I sure did!

There's an aquarium in VA Beach, and other kid-friendly tourist attractions if it's not warm enough to be out on the beach. Nice perk of VA beach is that it's a real city, and there are plenty of things open in the wintertime. Not so much with OBX.
