Default ISO Lightweight, Flexible Sneakers for Toddler Boys

DS is very fussy about his shoes, and he really needs a pair of sneakers (I feel silly taking him to soccer in his boat shoes). Does anyone have recommendations for sneakers that are lightweight and flexible? I tried several pairs on him at stride rite back in the fall, but they all seemed really bulky and stiff. I also looked at Target yesterday and was shocked at how expensive their shoes have gotten ($20 for all synthetic materials!!)

I know Pediped makes sneakers, but since they're crazy expensive $50/pair, they'll be my last resort.

I do like Stride Rite. I look for the SRTs. I think once they're running and playing sports and such it's important for their feet to have a little more support.

Umi shoes are our favorite, but they are a little $$$. I've found good deals on them on the Umi website's clearance section (free shipping, free returns) and on 6pm.com (free shipping but you pay for returns.)

Tsukihoshi shoes are wonderful! And you can throw them in the wash. I used to stock up on the next sizes whenever I'd find them on sale.

My DS also hated Stride Rite shoes. We've had good luck with New Balance.

I've had good luck with Geox, pediped, see kai run, tsukihosi, but I never pay full price. They all seem appear on the daily deal sites like myhabit, zulily, kid steals, etc. Nordstrom also has them during the semiannual sales and amazon sometimes has nice price drops as well.

We mostly do Saucony because DS needs XW. They've worked out well for us!

We also LOVE tsukihoshi. My 2 year old is wearing sneakers from them right now, as is my 7 year old! I'm always on the lookout for deals and have gotten some NIB ones on ebay for cheap!
