I know there is a range of sizes, but if you have a 2nd grader, what size shoe do they take?

My 2nd grader is in a size 1 right now....have a feeling hell be a 2 by summer. He's one of the younger kids in his grade.
DS is in second grade (7.5 years old) and wears a size 3.5 or so (some are size 4)
erm I corrected DS1's age

My current 2nd grader is a 12.5. Her sister was maybe a 11 back then. They have always had much smaller feet than most of their classmates however.

Ds is a third grader. He wears a 7.5. Last year he was wearing a 6.5 at the beginning of the year and a 7 at the end. He has big feet.

DD2 is in second grade and wears a size 4.
This proves a range of sizes. DS just turned 8 and wears a 6.5 (yes that's an 8.5 women's!) He wore size 12 at 10 months (his first walking shoes). He is 95th percentile for weight and 10% higher than the 100th percentile for height.
And on the other end of a wide range of sizes, my 3rd grader (she's 8.5 and quite petite) wears a size 13. She wore a 12 last year in 2nd grade.
I'm beginning to think that DD2 (nearly four years younger than DD1) is going to catch her up soon, since she's already wearing an 11.5 shoe!

DD wore a 13 most of 2nd grade. She moved into a 1 late spring. As a 3rd grader (9) she's moving into size 2's. She's pretty petite (25th percentile height) and has a small foot size even for her height, and always has.
