Default Last minute sunny getaway from PNW

We live in the Pacific Northwest, and I'm craving some hot, sunny weather. We are a family of six, with kids ages 7,4,2,1. I would like to have a short getaway, 3 or 4 nights with our kids before prices go up for the summer. We're looking at mid-May.

I would like to stay at either a resort with a nice pool area with a kiddie pool, or a hotel with a small outdoor pool in a downtown area near a park, restaurants, etc. It would be nice if we could get a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and not have to rent a car. As this is last minute and unplanned, I would like to keep the cost down.

Budget for airfare is $250-300 per person. Hotel budget must be less than $200, preferably less than $150. We are Marriott Rewards members, so Marriott properties are our first choice.

The problem I often run into is our larger family, we exceed the max occupancy on standard hotel rooms.

Can anyone help with suggestions? It would be so appreciated. Right now I am looking at San Antonio. We are looking for some sunshine and relaxation, but also some low-key activities to keep the kids happy.

Palm Springs CA maybe? Fly into Ontario Airport. You would still need to rent a car though. I know there is an airport in Palm Springs, not sure if there is airline service from an airport near you? http://www.ci.palm-springs.ca.us/index.aspx?page=270

My first thought was the Palm Springs area as well. Lots of resorts there.

Or, perhaps someplace in Arizona? Many resorts around Tucson and uh...drawing a blank here, but that other main city/area up north from Tucson...Scottsdale/Phoenix!

Palm Springs is perfect! I wouldn't have thought of that myself. I love southern Arizona too, as I grew up there and have lots of family in the area. It sounds sort of terrible to say, but on this trip I really just want to spend time with my kids and husband. We live right next to my in-laws and don't get to spend a lot of time on our own. If we were in AZ we would definitely need to get together with everyone. That's for another trip.

    Thanks again!

We live in the PNW and had a great Spring Break trip to Palm Desert. We stayed at Marriott Desert Villas and it was really nice.
