Default flax for egg in carrot cake

I want to make a carrot cake that is egg and dairy free, in other words vegan. I am seeing recipes with flax seed in them seemingly substituted for egg in the traditional recipe. my question is, does flax work just as well in carrot cake recipes, in which case could I just use my tried and true recipe with eggs substituted with flax meal? thanks.

I think that it really depends on how many eggs that are originally in the recipe. More than 2 and I wouldn't try it. Here's one that got a couple of good reviews. It uses baking soda and vinegar instead of egg. http://www.food.com/recipe/egg-dairy...ot-cake-376823
