Default Is the Britax Advocate worth it?

I was sold on a Boulevard until I started reading about the Advocate. DS is 16 months old and we have a 1992 Volvo wagon, so there is plenty of space for a big car seat.

The thing is a tank (with no safety bells and whistles like airbags, etc.) so I don't mind a tank of a car seat to go with it.

I'm now leaning toward the Advocate for the added side impact protection, but is it really worth it? I don't mind spending the extra $$, it's more that it doesn't seem to get as good reviews as the Boulevard.

    Any advice?

    Thanks!!

I would go with an Advocate, yes. Or a NextFit. Both have super duper side impact protection and rebound control for rearfacing. Well, the Advocate also meets forward facing safety standards without using a top tether, and it may be hard to get a top tether anchor installed in that car, so yeah, Advocate.

I watched the Youtube crash videos of the Advocate and it was super impressive. Those side pillows really seemed to work. I got one even though my seat is in the center of a car with side airbags!

Advocate it is, thank you both! How about middle seat RF install with lap belt only? Should that work ok?

Yep, lap belts are super nice for installing carseats, RF and FF.

I don't know if I'm allowed to mention, but there is an Advocate on sale in the Amazon mom sale. With 20% off it is $217. I bought the Pavilion last year during the sale.

Thank you!! I just bought the Boulevard for 182.76 thanks to the Amazon mom sale! In the end I opted for the Boulevard over Advocate because upon really assessing, I don't think there's enough room for the Advocate with a middle install - any backseat passengers would be squished. The Volvo is long but pretty narrow upon further inspection.

I think I'd rather a middle seat Boulevard install than outboard Advocate.

    Did I choose right??

Thank you both! Yeah I'm psyched about the great deal. Got it today and I love it! Got the Aztec pattern to match our tan car. Question about installation I'll post in a new thread...

And good to know I can confidently install it outboard if need be...
