    Default Tucson? UPDATE POST 17

    UPDATE POST 17

We might go to Tucson to see family over Thanksgiving. Not sure if we will stay with them or not. Suggestions for places to stay, places to eat and things to do would be much appreciated. We have a ten year old boy and a three and a half year old girl.

    Thank you!

I LOVED Tucson with kids!! You MUST see the Sonoran Desert Museum- zoo/botanical garden, all outdoors and totally awesome. You drive through the Saguaro National Forest to get there--how cool is that???? We also went to the old Tucson Film Studios, the kids LOVED it! And there is an airplane/aerospace museum there too. It is huge--indoors and out. We also went to a history museum on the campus of the university there. That didn't take long and was very interesting.

We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express that was a good location but I wouldn't do that again--I like to stay in places with a door between the bedroom/sitting area and has an actual kitchen. Eat all the Mexican food you can--this is the real stuff too!!

Thank you! Not sure how many days we will stay, but it sounds like there is plenty to do, so maybe we should stay most of the week. I found a couple of resorts with fancy pool areas, but the "suites" are way too expensive at them. I will check around and see if I can find a more reasonable suite type place. Not sure if we will stay with family or not.

Oh check out Homewood Suites or even Marriott Residence Inn or Town Suites. MUCH cheaper than the resorts!!

Thanks! I'm going through trip advisor and trying to figure out which have suites with a door that closes so older ds can stay up without keeping younger dd awake. It's tricky when they have such different bedtimes!

Marriott residence inns have doors. I think the town suites do too but they only have one bathroom.

The zoo is a good time. It's small but very nice. There is also a dinosaur museum that DS loved when he was a kid. My Mom lived there for several years and we liked going to breakfast at Cup Cafe in the Hotel Congress. It has a fun history.

I recently stayed at the Ritz in Tuscon, and was surprised at the economical price. It is a bit of a drive from the middle of town, but when we went, we were looking for more down/together time, so it worked perfectly! Have fun! We love the desert and love the weather in the fall!
