Another follow up - I ordered the Pirate Queen Lottie doll from Amazon and she arrived last week. I love the doll - she is quite pretty and I think DD will love her, too. The company has been delightful to work with - there's been a bit of a delay in getting the accessory packs for the 2 newest Lotties out to US Amazon, et al - and I'm seriously considering gifting two to my step-nieces.

I've placed her in the same bag as the DUPLO set I found in the closet (SCORE!!) and have to sort through my Christmas wrapping paper to ensure that I'm getting things done as I purchase them rather than rushing to do it all while I'm taking days off at the end of the year.

Anyway, DD is going to have a very "pirate" and superhero Christmas this year. DH and I are figuring out what things we will chuck - very likely it'll be the foam tiles that are just taking up space in our house, but I'm seeing a few other things that we could toss as well.

DS is 4. He's getting one huge gift from all sides of the family, plus some extras. They are:

The new dragons from How to Train Your Dragon

A mixer (his broke and that's his #1 request)

Hungry Hungry Hippos (his #2 request)

    The Original Perpluxes (request #3)

I'm not sure if anyone has posted this, but Fat Brain toys has a suggested list of top toys for different ages/genders. Many of their suggestions match up with what people around here like, and many are things that my DS already has and loves so it's worth checking out to see if you already have it all.

    DS is 4

His requests are all things TMNT so he's getting a shell and the weapon sets he doesn't have
    http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant...s=turtle+shell
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0081DCBSM/...I1CLQ4VXJQBL78

and some Power Ranger costumes from the Kmart post-Halloween clearance

Other suggestions I've put out for family are
Shellraiser (also a direct request) http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant...ds=shellraiser
Lego sets (we've only had Duplo til now but he really liked some of the vehicle sets like the tanker truck) http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-City-Tank...ds=lego+tanker
Games like Operation http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ARH9DPY/...I1C5AUMNP5M4NJ and Connect 4 http://www.amazon.com/Hasbro-A5640-C...ref=pd_sim_t_5

I've also suggested a Dr. Kit and Lab coat as he really enjoys dress-up right now although it's usually superhero costumes from Halloween

I was just finishing up presents from all the people who asked me to buy for them. My younger kids got the Hape cash register, and DD3 is going to try out Squigz. DD3 is also getting a PBK sleeping bag from us and a few books- probably including some of the Baby Lit books (because they are way too funny). Oh I forgot the personalized Sandra Boynton book. I can't wait to give her that.

OK, considering I have 3 possible giftees in this age-range, I'm going to list all of them.

    DD (3 yrs old)

    DN1 (age 4yrs)

I'm not entirely sure what I'm getting this kid. My sister & her boyfriend have been homeless for 6 months with no end in sight.

Chances are good, I'll get him some Mabel's Labels for his things & clothes, as he's started at a new daycare, and maybe some clothes. I should probably figure out a toy, though, because he's such a sweetheart.

I decided to give books this year combining Swissair's and brittone's ideas. We bought more than $200 in books. Yowza! The kids will get one book each from the 1st day of advent leading up to Christmas day. On Christmas day, we're getting them:
    DD (4 in Jan.)
    Richard Scarry's Busytown game
    http://www.amazon.com/Wonder-Forge-0...rd+scarry+game
    Some puzzles
    DS (2)
Wooden construction set (which doesn't cost as much as Amazon's price)
    http://www.amazon.com/Baufix-1313080...eywords=baufix
    3 year old DD
    2 year old DS

Dd is three and a half. She insists that Santa is bring her a castle. So we got this : http://www.melissaanddoug.com/wooden-medieval-castle. It was less on Amazon about a week ago, who knows what the price is now. Lol.

From us she is getting snazzy rain boots, books and three pairs of new pjs.

Her stocking will have the princess little people and I'm not sure what else.
