Default Washable felt food? Or something else for 18 month old?

We decided that 18 month old DD was ready for our old play kitchen and play food. It is mostly wooden M&D food, with some felt that I made. I think she actually is a little young for the wooden food b/c she is putting it in her mouth and it is getting chew marks, paint chips, etc. plus I noticed some even has cracked. Soooo, what kind of play food would be best for a young toddler. I'm thinking soft/light and maybe even washable? Or plastic (w/o stickers I'm thinking?) I haven't been in the market for a while, so where should I look? Thanks!

ETA: Mods, I meant to post this in KidFUN, feel free to move!

The Ikea fabric food is perfect. I've washed ours in a lingerie laundry bag several times and it still looks new years later.

We have plastic playfood that we got at Costco. It came in little baskets. It has held up well through two kids and gets played with all the time.

Same here. I saw a similar set at Costco just this week.

Plan Toys play food is much better than M&D as far as chipping paint goes...I think they use some kind of dye (as opposed to paint) to color the wood, so we haven't had any issues with chipping with the Plan stuff. However, it is wood so it would still get marks if bitten...

Oh, I just noticed that you can buy the soft Ikea food sets on Amazon...more pricey than at Ikea, but if you don't have one nearby, this could be an option.

Etsy!!! Lots of fun options of varying realism.

My recent favorite is from "patchyatbest".

Look at the pictures a view of the smores she makes. The fire was smaller than I expected (~10inches high), but very, very nicely made. Highly recommend, and my be my go to xmas gift for littles of friends. I had her make it with dark brown logs not the grey in the picture, and 2 sets of smores was $26. You can have her add rocks on too for $.

IKEA was my first thought, but since that isn't an option for you, I recommend the Melissa and Doug felt food, which is nice. The pieces are very sturdy and the detail is pretty amazing. We have the felt sandwich set, which has been great: http://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-F...dp/B004C7S70W/. I keep the egg and bacon out of the set, so DD can use that to make breakfast. The rest of the pieces are kept together to make (very tall, when you use them all!) sandwiches. The Haba roast chicken is also fun too: http://www.amazon.com/Haba-3822-Biof...dp/B001ECBSVS/.

So far, we've managed to avoid plastic food, now that I think about it.
