It's barely December and I'm itching for warmth. Based on miles and dates, it seems like Puerto Rico is our best option for travel in January. Can anyone recommend a great resort for our family (5 yr DS, 2.5 yr DS, 1 yr DD)? El Conquistador seems fabulous, but I can't imagine having to get on twenty minute boat ride anytime we want to go to the beach. Any thoughts? Recommendations? Thanks in advance!

We went to Puerto Rico on our Honeymoon but we stayed at the now closed Dorado Beach Hyatt (which was lovely). There is another Hyatt property in the area I think it is called the Hacienda Del Mar(I believe it is a timeshare property though, it was brand new when we visited back in 99). The Dorado beach area is probably a good 45 minute drive from San Juan though so you may not be interested.
I've heard good things about El Conquistador though! I would check out the Hilton Ponce Golf & Casino Resort. San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. The Ritz-Carlton San Juan. check the reviews on Trip Advisor.

The Dorado Beach resort is open again and supposed to be wonderful. I think it is a Ritz property now. I've head great things about the St. Regis Bahia. There is also the W in Vieques, but you would have to take a small plane or a ferry to get there. If you want to be in the city there is Caribe Hilton, El San Juan Hotel and the Ritz Carlton or the Marriott in Condado.

Conquistador is my fave by far. The boat ride is actually fun!
