I got this one based on Amazon reviews - it just came today and I'm not as thrilled with it as the reviewers. I think it has some good info, and lots of Lego animation ideas, but it's not as kid friendly as I thought it would be and not as much on claymation as I thought. The other one I was looking at was this one from Klutz but it's not in print and the prices are jacked up. I'm going to keep my eye out for it used and also go through some other ones at the library.

Almost 11yo DS is really into Rainbow Loom. I LOVE this little thing bc DS and DD1 work on them together, watching the videos. They have even showed DD2 a few patterns. It is a RARE moment at this stage of constant bickering - they actually LIKE working together and have patience for each other! This little LOOM has brought harmony to my family!!! Sooooooo worth the bazillion little bands scattered here and there (still have no idea as they are only allowed to use this in my kitchen!) and the endless collection of bracelets on my wrist. Anyway...Love the thing!! They also go to a Rainbow Loom Club together.

Is there a winter/spring science camp through a museum? DS would be all over that! He loves chemistry.

Gift cards for movie theatre (for special kid/parent day of his choice), Target, or Gamestop. My DS LOVES gift cards.

DS is ASKING for a Nintendo 3DS with some Pokemon games and Epic Mickey and Minecraft for the computer (sadly, the kid laptop just died). He is getting a surfboard, a football, and 2014 Guinness Book of World Records instead. Oh...and I believe he is the last kid on the planet who has had to wait for "Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck". He has practically read the entire book during various visits to Costco.

Saw and played with this in the store today at the mall. Lots of fun and I immediately came home and ordered one for DS1. You can play both indoors and out.
