Default ISO Family Friendly ski resort in MI

We are looking at taking the kids on their first ski vacation this winter. DS is 5 and will be taking lessons. DS2 will be going to daycare. I don't see us skiing all day, a half day at most, as I am not really into skiing but do enjoy it for an hour or two. But I'm not good and don't venture past the easy slopes. Any suggestions? We need to rent a condo or something like like because we need to cook meals because of DS's food allergy.

Boyne Mountain has great ski classes for kids and lots of rentals in the area too.

I really like Boyne Highlands as well. Harbor Springs is a really cute town.

Either Crystal or Boyne Mt. would be my suggestions.

We like Boyne and Shanty Creek. For a super low-key beginner experience and very reasonable ticket prices, you can go to Caberfae. There's also some kind of winter sports park in Muskegon that has luge runs and other stuff - we haven't been but friends said it was fun.
