Default We need to get out of dodge (DC area). Mommies, help!!

It's been a long winter. We were thinking of Great Wolf, but that's just not a good fit. We will be going for 4 or 5 days in two weeks. DDs don't have passports, so foreign is out (I'm in no mood to try to get rush passports). I'd prefer something warm, but if not, need lots of outdoor activities, especially for 5yo DDs. Fly or short drive. Our family needs a getaway. Please help.

DH and I went to this resort in FL about 10 years ago, and even though I am not a FL fan overall, I really loved the beaches in St. Pete. There were lots of kids.

Oh, what about Puerto Rico? It's territorial US so no passport needed.

It's always warm in Puerto Rico. You don't have to worry about the weather fluctuations of Florida, and the flight's only an hour longer. Travelzoo was showing some resort discounts for two different PR resorts recently. You might try them or cheapcaribbean.com if you're interested.

Keep the ideas coming! I appreciate all so far. PR is definitely in my radar.

PS - anyone know of a site where I can plug in my departure city and dates, and get deals/ideas for where to head?

You might be able to do that on Southwest Vacations.

We are going to Sanibel Island, Florida in February. I keep checking the weather and there have been 80 degree days lately interspersed with 70 degree days.
