Our roast was really tasty tonight too!

Unfortunately the Bulletproof Coffee was a bust! I tried like 3 sips of it before I had to dump it down the drain. It was just not appealing at all and no where near the taste of a breve latte! So I'd rather have no coffee than force myself to drink something I don't like. I'll be sticking to my medicinal peppermint tea (which I learned shortens my periods) and my blueberry green tea.

Went grocery shopping today and bought a bunch of ingredients to try out some more meals from my Make Ahead Paleo cookbook.

Oh, and that homemade mayo dip I made a few days ago with fresh basil, garlic, and roasted red peppers is AWESOME with cucumbers! I actually ate an entire large cucumber tonight because of it and DS1 really liked it too!

hee hee hee! Yup...bulletproof coffee is essentially for those who NEED their 1T of cream in their AM coffee. A lot of ppl have devised recipes for flavored creamers but those are a no-no on W30 (not an issue for you). ITA...coconut milk in coffee is nasty...tastes rancid. I am on a mission to LOVE green tea. Tried some in TJs this AM and really liked it. This issue is that I bring it home and it just doesn't taste them same...Grrr. I tend to over-steep all teas, as I like them stronger. Could be the issue...

Looking forward to hearing about you MAP cookbook ventures! Haven't tried anything in there yet.

We've been eating leftovers - Kalua Pig and the strata. Tonight is AnnieW25's Balsamic Mustard Chicken from the Crockpot thread with some roasted parsnips and fennel.

I need to get some parsnips and turnips. I am craving root veggies, especially mashed with salt and ghee.

AACK - I totally did this too yesterday. I was at the dentist of all places and they had those yummy soft mints. I didn't even realize it until I had already swallowed oops

So jealous! I've almost bought a pressure cooker twice now, but I haven't pulled the trigger. I love my crock-pot and can't justify the expense of yet another kitchen appliance. Do you use it often?

Over-steeping will definitely change the taste of your green tea. What about a mix of green tea and jasmine? I ordered this sampler for my FIL and we split it. There are different types of green tea, some less grassy than others. Maybe something like this would work for you. I am a tea hoarder lol - love to find new ones to try!

Wow! I've never heard of anyone else profess their love of parsnips before Our family loves them - especially together with carrots. Mashed carrots and parsnips are always a side dish to a roast (any meat, but especially lamb). I haven't had turnips in ages, but I might just have to get some too!

Just a note for those that have an Aldi nearby, their organic baby spinach and spring lettuce is on sale for $1.49/5oz. A great price. They have been getting lots of organic product lately. Their org bananas are $.55/lb.

Oversteeping will make your green tea bitter. Definitely steep it for no longer than 3 minutes. For white tea, 2 minutes is the max.

Had pork chops, buffalo cauliflower with Mayo/Ranch dip and kale chips for dinner----YUMMM!!! If it wasn't such a pain to cook every meal from scratch, I think I could definitely do this eating plan forever. Getting ready for my nightly tea instead of wine but nice to know I'm in good company here.

Thanks for the green tea/jasmine rec! I also am trying to sneak in more green tea so hopefully this will help.

Omg, so I finally came upon a creamer solution for my coffee!!!!!!!

    http://www.everydaymaven.com/2013/paleo-coffee-creamer/

Almond milk is W30 compliant if you make your own or find one in the store without carrageenan. The unsweetened 365 brand from Whole Food's is carrageenan-free. Tapioca starch is W30 compliant if you're using it as a thickener (which you are in this case) and not in baking something like paleo muffins. Dates are W30 compliant but should be eaten in limited quantities since they are pretty sweet and dried fruits are in the limit category. This recipe make 2 1/2 cups of creamer using just 6 dates so each serving is less than eating 1 date (more like a 1/2 date) so I'm perfectly fine with that, especially since I would be drinking coffee no more than once a day. The creamer is great as is, but I added an additional 1/2 tsp of almond extract which made it amazing-- as in eat off a spoon amazing! Added a little to my double shot of espresso that I made with my AeroPress and I was so happy! Creamy and tastes nothing like coconut! Too bad I found the recipe at 11:30pm at night. Having a double shot of espresso at midnight is not the best thing, but I had to try it out!

Oh, and tonight's dinner by the way was leftover roast and carrots, sauteed green beans with almonds, and sauerkraut. I also had some more cucumber slices and finished off my roasted red pepper mayo dip. For lunch I had zucchini soup, more roast, and my mixed berries with coconut milk. Made some more mayo last night too since I had run out!

Was your zucchini soup homemade? I'm making a carrot/ginger soup in the crockpot today. I've never really made vegetable soups before - besides split pea and potato leak, neither of which are whole30 compliant. I told my husband what I was making and he surprised me by saying yum! I thought I was making it just for myself but my family might surprise me!

I made roasted pork with roasted veggies (carrots and broccoli) last night. I also tried to roast collard greens. They need more attention than other roast veggies because the thin parts can burn quickly. I think I need to coat them with EVOO better than I did, but I liked how they tasted. I also made spaghetti squash - cooked in microwave, then sauteed the insides with EVOO and garlic. DH made the mistake of putting maple syrup on the boys' portions (yuck garlic and maple syrup!) and they didn't like it. I'm going to try again with another recipe and see if that helps. I so want my kids to like squash, but so far it's a no go. They love sweet potatoes though...

I've also been drinking my homemade bone broth in the mornings. It's satisfying but my DH thinks it's gross that I drink it!

I tried the berry tea recommended upthread and it's delicious. It's looks just like a glass of red wine, too! lol
