I DID NOT see that coming. Were there rumors going around that something like this could happen?

Wow, just watched it... Totally surprised, best kept secret.... I think the show will be fine, lots of shows survived a major character leaving... ER... But still wow....

What......the.......heehaw! How could that happen? Best part of the show. I am so sad for "my lady lawyer show" as it is known around my house.
Rumors as of the end of season 4 that said character's actor may not be renewing contract past season 5 were pretty well known on certain spoilers website. I don't like it and after last week's flashback episode I was hoping for something more this week that played that out, but I guess not.
Now all I can hope for is a CW network spin off series based on time these two main characters spent as under grads and law students at Georgetown in the early to mid 90s, which will probably never happen. I just can't see Ridley Scott and Leila Gerstein (Hart of Dixie, and Gossip Girl fame) working together on TV show.
