Ok so DD has gotten very interested in trains, following in her brother's footsteps. We are going to see Day Out with Thomas tomorrow and TBH I think DD might be more excited!!
As you can imagine we do have tons of books about trains. Steam Train Dream Train is a recent favorite. And of course, the Polar Express (and the movie). What makes me kinda sad though is that in ALL the books the main characters are boys...it shows a boy's bedroom, it is about a boy experiencing/dreaming it, etc. Yes in the Polar Express (which we love) there is a girl but the main character is still a boy and it's all done from his perspective. I never really thought about it since DS was first and he was the main one with the train obsession, but now that I Have DD and she asks about it (plus DS making comments about trains being only for boys...argh).
Are there ANY books out there centered around trains where the main character is a girl? I try to google and get some horribly inappropriate links and that just makes me even more sad..sigh....
