We are thinking about driving up for the weekend and need to figure out where to stay. We'd have a car and want to take the kids to Independence Hall, see the Liberty Bell and possibly to the Benjamin Franklin Miuseum. Any recommendations?

Without knowing where you could stay within your budget it is hard to say. Anywhere in old city, society hill, center city/Rittenhouse/Logan square would be a great location. It is a very walkable city so once you are here you shouldn't need your car.
