Default How much does tutoring cost in your area?

Does your child have any academic tutoring? How much do you pay per hour? Do you live in a high/med/low COL area?

I live in a med/low COL area and having a math tutor for DD this summer. She's going into 4th. A teacher acquaintance of mine is charging $50/hour. My DD's teacher quoted me $60/hr once a week or $90/2 hours a week. I decided to go with the acquaintance because I felt a different perspective might be better to help DD in this case.
My in-laws are both teachers in middle school math and tutor on the side in a MCOL area (south florida) and make about $70/hour for that in a wealthier area.

My DD does not have a tutor but in my HCOL teachers are charging $100 an hour at the elementary level and $150 at the high school level.

$60 for a masters level reading specialist. $35 for a high school student through a company that hires high school students to provide enrichment.

Yikes, those are high rates! I do not have tutoring for my kids but my MIL is a math teacher at a local Christian school and I think her charge is $20/hr. (but she does it as a service to her students, not as a summer money maker). I do online tutoring for a company and only get paid about $12/hour, but I don't have any prep work for my sessions. I know the parents and schools pay a much higher rate to the company, though I'm not exactly sure how much. A friend tutors for a local tutoring company and makes $20/hr. but I think the parents pay more to the general company and she gets paid as a private contractor for her sessions. I live in south central PA.

I signed dd1 up for tutoring last year (1st grade) so she could get major help with reading, as she wasn't going to pass. We had her in a tutoring center 3 days a week after school, for an hour each session. It was $400/mo. We had a bit of a discount since we signed up for a year vs just doing monthly. We live in a lower cost of living area (Houston).
