I just saw this video yesterday, it looked so easy! Have to buy grapes just so I can try it. Would a bread knife work well?

Genius.
I used our big bread knife and it worked perfectly. It took me a couple of tries to figure out the trick: it works best with plates that have a wide rim, and then you have to hold the knife so it's even with the rim. Otherwise you get just the tops sliced off instead of neatly cut in half grapes. (I think if you have really deep plates it probably won't work so well, unless you also have correspondingly huge grapes.)
I am definitely using this trick for our next kid party - I always get nervous putting out a big bowl of grapes, even with older kids, when there's minimal supervision.
