I even saw a headline about an interesting topic and clicked the link "Continue Reading" which took me to a #@*% page with no additional text... just a new video.

I don't know why, but I hate it.

Me too--I never know what is going to be said aloud and it is always so loud, assuming you can get the stupid video to play.

Agree! So annoying!
Agreed...I just want to read the info 99% of the time, not watch a video I didn't ask for!
Worst is when the videos play automatically...
You look over headlines and click to open an interesting one. But because you KNOW it's going to take several seconds (if not minutes) for the web page to load, you open the link in a new tab and continue reading the headline.
Soon you have a dozen tabs open and one (or two) of them suddenly starts playing its video startling the crap out of you. Once you peel yourself off the ceiling, you start looking for the offending tab so that you can shut it the #@%& up.
It's as bad as those web sites that start playing audio commercials you don't expect.
I stopped reading online news on computers because I can't seem to find a free one that doesn't have auto play videos now! Grr.

I hate that too. I like to read the news story or I feel like I missed something.
