We have two KK's and have used them from "sippy" top to sport top, they held up GREAT. Only thing for dd was they didn't keep her drink cold so we changed this year to what seems to be the exact bottle EVERY other kid has lol...."funtainer". It also does not stay cold the supposed 12 hrs but better than the KK. http://m.target.com/p/thermos-funtai...344#next-image. Ours is purple though.

Still use kk's around the house tho I love them!

    Default Water bottles for school?

Kind of a side ?, but did Klean Kanteen ever introduce a new sport top that doesn't leak? We have had nothing but problems with our KK sport tops I bought in 2010 (sport top 2.0) leaking (so much so that we rarely use them anymore unless we are I the car and they sit in a cup holder) and I thought they would be an improvement on the originals that squeaked at lot. I am 37 and still prefer a sport top to taking off a screw top lid.

Plastic Contigo cups w/o a straw. DD1 has an older version of this, DD2 has these same ones in girly colors. No problems with leaks, unless I screw the lid on crooked. On hot days I put a few ice cubes in and fill with cold water from the fridge.

My kids use Thermos Funtainers. They keep water cold all day and are SS.

for the Contigo plastic bottles linked above how cold of those stay? DD1 has had a stainless Funtainer and is used to how bold those are, but the Contigo ones are a good deal right now on Amazon. We love our stainless Contigo travel mugs. DD has been using a Funtainer for years though and likes how cold the water stays.

My kids drink room temp water at home. I pack an ice pack in their lunchboxes and it prevents the water from getting warm. I guess you could put some ice cubes in it. The lunchboxes are in their lockers, so it isn't as if the water would get warm.

Mine do too. I went ahead and ordered them from Target for the same price which seems to be the standard price (but Target had the girl colors in stock). I do love that they are straw free because that is the one downside of the Funtainers (I hate cleaning and calling to replace/ replacing the straws). I figure I can always put them in the fridge or put the bottom in freezer overnight as well. They should freeze well, right?
