DS had some nausea with the vyvanse for about a month (and also really nasty blinking tics for about a month), now does not want to eat lunch on it but knows he has to or he feels worse. He has to take it with food or he throws up. We just upped him to 40 mg which has been amazing for his symptoms and thankfully has not changed his appetite. DD is on 5 mg of focalin with NO side effects.

We like either Focalin XR or Quilivant. The Quilivant is coming in particularly handy right now because it's so easy to alter the dose. It's a liquid, so I can give a regular dose when she starts back to school full time and a smaller dose for concentrating in our quiet home environment until then. It's also nice to be able to give a smaller dose on the weekends.

My daughter has responded best to the methylphenidate drugs. We tried Adderall XR at first and she had almost every single side effect on the list. It was terrible. We then used the Daytrana patch for several months and it was great for her (she couldn't take pills at the time). She would have redness at the site of the patch, but it was always gone by morning and didn't itch or hurt her. Then, of course, insurance stopped covering it. So, we went on Ritalin LA, which could be opened and sprinkled on a spoon of applesauce. After one month, insurance stopped covering that one (no generic for the 10 mg pill). So now we're on to Metadate CD. It seems to be working well...she had some initial issues with nausea, but after we made sure she takes it on a full stomach, it's been great. The efficacy time seems to be a little shorter, so we're having the daycare (who takes her to school) give her the meds right before they leave. That seems to carry her from school, all the way through tutoring in the afternoon. And she can finally swallow the capsules!
