I'd add a side like fruit, especially if its going to a family with kids.
Oh, fruit is a good idea. I'll take that.
Just curious....do your kids like chili?
I would take a salad. And fruit and Mac and cheese cause many kids don't like chili.
I wouldn't go crazy with the mac and cheese. I'd throw in a box of Kraft .
Green Tea, mom to three
My kid won't eat chili, but she loves cornbread. At my house, I would eat the chili and enjoy the leftovers while supplementing my picky eater dd with some yogurt and we would both be happy.
My kids (ages 2 & 4) like chili and cornbread! We serve chili with dollops of sour cream, or maybe some grated cheese.
I'd add a salad if it's not too much work; if I were serving chili to my family I'd definitely do a green salad on the side. (Full disclosure; 90% of the time we do salads we do the all-in-one salads in a bag from Trader Joe's. My kids are crazy about the Caesar, and usually at least eat a few bites of the spinach salad.)
I think chili and cornbread is just fine without any extra sides.
