    Default Family games

We had dinner at a friend's this weekend and played 7 Wonders (Me, DH and DS1). It was fun (and pretty complicated -- glad we played with someone who knows how to play). Any suggestions for fun, strategy games? DS1 likes 7 wonders, 10 days in africa and ticket to ride. I need something that I can read the instructions and understand (eg 7 wonders was too hard for me to teach myself) .
    TIA!

A fun 2 player game is Lost Cities.

I have not played, but my kids and their cousins played and enjoyed Settlers of Catan Junior. It's for ages 6-10 and is supposed to be pretty true to the original.

We've been loving Phase 10 lately. It's a fairly easy card game (get x number of cards--like 7 cards of 1 color, or 9 cards in numerical order, etc).

You might want to check out Small Worlds -- it might be for ages a little higher than your DS -- I can't remember! But DH and I enjoy playing it and it seems like one of the more simple strategy games we play. We also enjoy a 2 player game called Balloon Cup.

We live ticket to ride. My kids also love playing Rummy with the tiles and the card game May I.

Carcassonne is good. Mine were able to get it at that age.

We love Uno here We sometimes remove the more complicated cards when we play (and the game still plays very nicely), but it's a lot of fun for all. DDs have totally gotten DH before for not saying "uno"!

We play Uno and Yam Slam most frequently. When my parents visit, my mom, DD and I play Boggle.
