    Default Pregnancy Colds

What's that new perfume I'm wearing?
Oh, it's just Vick's vapor rub.
I'm drinking hot tea, gargling with Listerine (for the sore throat) and taking hot showers to help with breathing.
Any other tips and tricks you have used to kick the common cold while you're pregnant and can't take anything?
All I want to do is lay in bed all day today.

How far along are you? When I was in my second trimester my midwife advised that it was better to take sudafed and clear it up than to risk it turning into a sinus infection and needing antibiotics. Obviously this varies depending on when in the pregnancy it occurs and what other factors may be involved. She also recommended a netti pot.

I took Benadryl. Made me sleep at night and dried me out.

Breathe right strips worked great for me, especially for breathing at night.

Oh yeah, I did that too. There were a couple of days where I toughed it out without meds during the day, but decided it was worth taking Benadryl at night so I could sleep.
