Default Dyson Vaccum or cheaper one (like Hoover Windtunnel)

OK my 9 yo factory reconditioned original Dyson animal is limping along, but not doing as well as it used to. I think it's time to get a new one. I'm completely overwhelmed doing research on this! Anyone have an opinion if the dyson's are twin ill worth the extra $200-300? It looks like some other brands have gotten better bagless ones. The more research I do the more confused I get.

Shark Navigator is what I bought to replace my dyson. Love it IMO does every bit as well and was 1/2 the price Mine is purple its 159 at bed bath and beyond and I bet there is a 20% off floating around someplace

We were really disappointed with the Hoover WT, we replaced it with a Shark Navigator and are very happy with it. Bought it Costco.

I have a 6 yr. old Dyson DC 14, but when I have to replace mine I would definitely look at the Shark. I told my parents it was awesome based on the raves it has received here and they are very happy with it. And my parents have a Manx cat with a lot of hair and my last visit there was the first time I didn't have any issues with my cat allergies so the vacuum must really work.
