Default Day 2 potty training....any tips?

DS is two months shy of three and I have been dragging my feet on potty training for multiple reasons. I figured with the cold cold weather yesterday was a good day to start. We talked it up, bought lots of treats and a few poop prizes, got balloons, made a star sticker chart; the works. Yesterday went ok. I quickly realized that he will always pee on command but never admit he has to go if asked. We seemed to need to go every 15 minutes to prevent accidents. But he went faithfully pretty much every time I set him on the potty. We put a pullup on for naptime and an overnight for last night but he peed about 15 times on the potty the rest of the day. After he went to bed, he called me and said he had to poop. I figured he was just stalling, but he did poop on the potty.

So my question is: do I space out the 15 minute timer today? is he going to start telling me he has to go? Do I let him have more accidents to get a feel for what not to do? This is the exact OPPOSITE of training the girls. They held it all day our first day and refused to go at all! Any tips are appreciated!!!

I always did graduated times for my boys but they never told me they had to pee Either they did or went on their own. I pushed liquids If they peed I went and hour then did a potty trip then 30 then 15. It took mine a couple days to get the swing of it but by the end of the week peeing was done. Poop took a little longer for mine.

Sounds like how both of mine were at 2 when they trained. Did your girls train older? Mine could never have held it all day. I think you could keep doing fun versions of taking him (racing, being excited, etc.) or if he'd prefer give him more control by using a potty watch or timer. I think with DS I started taking him every 15 min. and then slowly upping it to 20, 25 and 30 min. as he got better about it. Somewhere after this he started taking more control about going when he felt he needed to. But of course we still made him go after waking, eating, before bath, before bed and before leaving the house or coming home. This part is frustrating but I think it's important that you keep making sure he goes so he stays successful. Have you bought him any special underwear he likes? I let DS choose a bunch of the cheap character ones and reminded him to go potty so they would stay dry and he could wear them all day. Does your DS like Daniel Tiger? That potty song is really catchy and DD sings it all the time so I use it to remind her to go. Since it's important to get used to stopping when you have to go I think it sends the right message.
    Good luck!

He sounds like he is doing really well! I don't have a ton of advice but keep up the good work. Sounds like he is enjoying the process and learning. I like what Jeana had to say.

BTW, I'm on day THREE with DS3 and he's totally been like your girls. Holding it all day and refusing to go! I'm hoping things will get better soon!
